| A plastic bag holder can be highly useful for decreasing the litter caused by plastic bags. Making your own plastic bag holder is easy using different tools. However, the attention should be given to make the holder beautiful and handy to store bags.
Required Material
• Matching thread
• Kitchen towel, 1
• ¼ inch ribbon, 1 yard
• Elastic, 2 feet
• Sewing machine
• Pins and sewing needles
• Scissors, pencil and ruler
Procedure
• For making plastic bag, at first cut a piece of the elastic in a way that it becomes just a bit larger than the half of the width of the towel. You can check if it extends down the width of the towel, before you start cutting. If you find the half of the width of the towel is larger than the elastic, take a lager piece of elastic.
• Now, spread the towel on a table top in a way that its exterior will face the table. Sketch straight lines transversely one end of the towel. Now do again the same with the other side of the towel.
• The next step to make a plastic bag is to make a point at the middle of the piece of elastic that you cut earlier. Then, using pin, attach the elastic in the towel where the line have been drawn. Leave a space of ½ inch elastic outside the edge of the towel. Now, pin the noted middle point of the elastic to the centre of the line, drawn on the towel.
• Pin the left-over end of the elastic to the other edge of the towel. Check to leave about ½ inch piece of the elastic outside the edge of the towel, as you did earlier. Now, extend every pinned point of the elastic and stitch it to the towel. As a result, it will stay in place while sewing. For your convenience, you can make use of a bright colored thread for clearly visibility.
• Now use the sewing machine to stitch the elastic to the towel. Extend the elastic from the edge and make crisscross stitching from the edge to the middle of the towel and complete the remaining of the procedures (to the other edge). Make sure to start and end it with backstitching.
• Now, fold up the towel based on length, making sure that both the salvages team up and pin them to keep in position. Sew one ½ inch line of thread from one end of the towel towards the other. Make sure to backstitch at the opening and at the end.
•
• After your sewing gets completed, iron the whole lines and turn the insides out. Now the original outer surface will be visible. Then slice an 8 inch piece of the ribbon to make its loop, and fold it into half. Then stitch the loop firmly at the middle of the bag.
By following the above procedure, you can create your own homemade plastic bag holder! Now you may pay attention to its decorating part by fastening a bow with the rest of the ribbon.
